new report filters on Net Worth widget

I see the problem in R34.20. It appears that Quicken looks at the "Selected Accounts", sees that the user has selected EVERY account (hidden and separate) and mistakenly treats that as "All Accounts (Excludes hidden and separate accounts)". The same problem exists when creating a Net Worth report from the Quicken Reports menu.

I believe you can fairly easily overcome this problem until Quicken fixes it.

Create a new account (a Cash account would do), with no transactions ... no balance. Hide the new account.

When you Customize the Net Worth widget, or report, and you want ALL accounts, use "Selected Accounts" with the "Show hidden accounts" option selected ... but de-select the new hidden Cash account created above (which, by design, has no effect on net worth).

It seems that when not all accounts are selected, Quicken leaves the customization as the user chooses.

[Quicken could add one other option on the Customize > Accounts tab, so the tab would read:

- All Accounts

- All Accounts except hidden and separate accounts

- Selected accounts]

It's been brought to my attention that the original poster in the above Community discussion was talking about "categories", not "accounts". Sorry about that.

I believe now that there are multiple problems with the new (R34.20) Customize options for both Accounts and Categories. And I see that, in addition to the new Customize options for Accounts and Categories, there are also new Customize options for Payees, Tags and Securities. Those may also exhibit problems - haven't tested them yet.

But I believe that the workaround in my original post, is still valid for the specific report/widget Accounts customization problem I noted in that original post.

Still looking into the other problems that may have been introduced by the new Customize options.

Yesterday, I found just the opposite: a user incorrectly claiming a problem with the new Customize options.

Here's a discussion where the original poster makes a claim against the new report Customize dialog that is not correct.

I see no problem, no bug, there. I believe Quicken is working exactly as it should.

I have tested in Q2020 R34.24 and Q2017 R20.6 - I do not see any difference between Q2020 R34.24 and Q2017 (R20.6). Both treat "Show hidden accounts" in report Customize dialogs the same ... and correctly.

Reviewing the options on the "Display Options" tab of the Edit Account Details dialog for an account ...

To review those 3 account Display Options (in the reverse order of the order in which they appear on the Display Options tab):

3.) "Hide account name in account bar and account list" {obviously has NOTHING to do with Quicken reports} 2.) "Hide in transaction entry lists" {also clearly has NOTHING to do with Quicken reports} 3.) "Keep this account separate-account will be excluded from Quicken reports and features" {this option specifically and clearly DOES hide (exclude) the account in Quicken reports}

In other words, the only "Display Options" choice that should affect "hidden" Accounts in Quicken reports is #3, "Keep this account separate ...." - and it is the only option that does .... just as it was before.
