re-creating payments

I just got a notice from Wachovia/WellsFargo about the impending changeover [Weekend of Aug 5 for me.. dunno if that's the date for everyone]. Anyhow, the instructions are probably OK and such, but: They say: Any bill payments you have set up to be paid or processed through Quicken .. after Friday Aug 5, 2001 will be canceled. ...

And then later they say

"After you update your software, you will need to re-create your bill payments as soon as possible on or after Tuesday, August 9, 2011

Can someone help me understand just what I'm supposed to do. Note that I do not use "quicken billpay" -- my billpay is through Wachovia. I currently have 12 payments queued up "for delivery", and of those 12, just two are set up for after 5 Aug, so I guess the best/easiest thing to do is just to change the dates on the two after-8/5 payments to have them go before 8/5 and then all will be well. that sound right?

What about repeating payments? I have four. I assume they'll be cancelled, too and I'm not sure what to do about that. Should I preemptively, right now, cancel them and just re-enter them after 8/9? It looks like the only thing I can do is cancel the payment, so I guess I better write down all the info and be prepared to enter it by-hand after the ninth? Or is there some easier way to get those to carry over?

[NB: I have no idea what'll happen that weekend. I haven't had a chance to go through the 20 page booklet they sent me about the change, so I hope it won't mess up my existing Wachovia-data [several year's worth] too badly.

THANKS!! /bernie\

As Sharx said, you MIGHT not have the problem if you have preauthorized withdrawals by the payee, I called them pull payments. Of course, if your routing and account numbers are going to change, you'd have to issue new authorizations.

My preferred action would be to cancel any payments after that date and issue new ones to occur either before or after. I wouldn't trust anything the bank would tell me,after hearing all the sorry stories from Wachovia/welss fargone.

Every few years I am tempted to change banks. I've been told that many banks even have a simplified routine to enable a seamless transition for their pre-authorized transactions, I.e. enabling them to change from one bank to another without missed credits, debits, etc.. Admittedly, my interest in changing banks is NOT great enough to put it to the test. Change is good...but not always. So, as far as my original post about pre-authorized debits/credits--YMMV!!!!!!! Sometimes the old ways, even through not very efficient, work well enough to NOT justify ANY time spent changing them.
