recommend bill payment service?

I am looking for an online bill payment service with the following characteristics:

  • I want to continue to receive my bills in paper form, through the mail. (This appears to rule out Quicken Bill Pay.) * I want all payments to be sent as paper checks, not as electronic transfers; actually, electronic transfer would be okay as long as the payment is not deducted from my account until the delivery date. * I want to be able to set up repeating payments or one-time payments in advance, the shorter the lead time the better.

That's it, that's all I want. I'm willing to switch banks if that's what's necessary, though I would prefer to stay with Chase just to avoid the inconvenience of switching.

Can anyone on this list recommend a service with these characteristics? There seem to be lots of options, but it's difficult to figure out when deductions are made from the account.

Unfortunately, Chase, with whom I have used my Quicken software for online bill payment for years, recently changed their operations for the worse. Among other unfortunate change, they no longer provide the above services. If you tell them to deliver a check for $100 to XYZ Corp on, say, 2/17, they now deduct the $100 from your account 6 working days before that date, generate a bank check, and deliver the bank check to XYZ on 2/17. This really messes up cash flow planning for me, I just lose too much control.

Any recommendations or useful tips will be appreciated.

I use my local Banks free service (Citizens Bank of Nevada County) and my Morgan Stanley account free service.

Its time for you to move on. Don't stick with a bank for any sense of loyalty. Get the best deals from a quality bank. It should be little issue if your funds are under $100K, which is about the FDIC insured maximum.

Where I live in the NE USA,all my transactions from banks, bill pay, and finance companies are free, including credit card statements etc.,
