Rename security?

Vanguard renamed one of my funds. The new name is the same security as the older one but has lower fees. The transactions that came through amounted to (1) remove all shares of the old name; (2) buy the same amount (shares and dollars) of the new fund; (3) a place holder for that number of shares of the new name. The place holder is needed because Quicken doesn't have the history of the new name, so it can't figure the cost basis.

I want to simply use the history of the old name but for the new name. I think all I have to do is edit the security name and delete the three transactions mentioned above. Can anyone advise me as to whether this will work without screwing up my history.

I tried to download the price history of the new name but Quicken won't do it because it has never heard of the new name before!

They changed some of my shares from investor to admiral too. For one the $/sh was the same (investor vs admiral), for the other it wasn't. Since for me this was in a Roth account, I didn't care about basis.
