Report Format H&B '08. Can I go back to older version?

Dec 03, 2007 4 Replies

My needs are rather spartan. All I want to do is keep a check register and print out some reports twice a year.

This worked perfectly in the '99 version. New computer; no disk for 99 so got '08.

'08 puts the sub-total ABOVE the list of items being added. Huh?? I hate it. Intuit is no help. It's a "feature" and their promise to be sure you are satisfied is a lie.

So........does anybody know which version moved the report totals to the top instead of the bottom? Does anybody have that version (or older back to '99) that you would like to trade, even up, for H&B '08 ?? SUCH A DEAL !! A free upgrade !!

Moving data from '99 to '08 was a snap, using export and import. Any idea if going BACK will work?? Guess that might depend on the version.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Only true for reports that show individual transactions.

Along with subtotals at the top comes a new feature which I love: the ability to elect to see the individual transactions for some subtotals, while hiding the transactions for other subtotals.

Q2006.

Odd, most folks would just let the newer version convert the older version data (or get a free "trial version" to do the conversion in two steps.)

If you had Quicken "convert" your data, you could revert to the backup Intuit made of your data when it did the conversion, then manually re-enter data that occured since that time.

Or, in your case, you can reverse the process you used to upgrade: you can export to QIF files, then import the QIF files into the older version. Very messy for many folks, and not all data can be exported/imported.

Importing QIF files into versions newer than Q2004 requires a bit of extra effort (unless you can get satisfactory results using the "All Accounts" export/import option), but other than that, the options and degree of difficulty are the same for all versions.

Ken,

John reports that this was changed in 2006. I just did a report on my

2005 H & B and it subtotals at the bottom. I was intending to upgrade early next year after 2008 got one more stability release, due to Intuit's data download sunsetting policy, which will pretty much force me into a new version some time this spring anyway.

Write if you want to do an exchange.

Take out the notspam from my email address.

YES! Think I'd prefer to wait until January; will do my year-end with what I've got, just incase the data won't port backwards correctly. The address still looks suspicious with notspam removed. If you'll re-assure me on that, I'll reply by Email to make arrangements. Thanks.

The data won't "port backward" automatically (by my definition, which is that the program can convert it). It may "port backward" by the method I think you previously used which was QIF export/import, but I don't ever do that so I can't tell.

That e-mail address is valid, and is one I set up for use on boards and that I can use when registering online. It was given that name because it might attract "attention", and if it gets too much, I can abandon it and move on because it isn't my primary address.
