Reporting Tools on Closed Accounts

May 19, 2005 2 Replies

I was executing an EasyAnswer Reports and Graph searching on "How much did I spend on...a itemized categories; in this case items done on my house i.e. maintenance, purchases etc...but I couldn't find the transaction.

I was looking for a payment I made to a painter that I paid to paint the exterior of my house, but I couldn't find it. So I did a search on his name and found that it wasn't listed because the account I paid him out has been "closed" by me because I don't have an account with this bank anymore. In my "Manage account" option for this account I have "Hide In Quicken", so I guess this is the wrong option to select if you want to do reporting on accounts that have been closed.

I think I should select the other 2 options in "Manage Accounts" to "Not Include in Totals" and "Remove from Bar", if I want to report on items on a account that is closed but don't want to display the account in my totals screen?

How do you handle this?

I too keep closed accounts hidden for normal use.

If I'm running reports such as you are doing, I simply customize the report to include some or all closed accounts. I do not normally mess with the 'Manage Accounts' settings.

OK, I seen the option you're suggesting, that will work also. I just left it with theoptions I selected above so that I don't forget to include those closed accounts in my reports. Thanks for the reply.
