REQ: How do I replace deleted transactions with those from another file?

Nov 02, 2011 0 Replies

I am using Q2011 H&B. For the last year-and-a-half I have been engaging in a Quicken practice which I think is getting me in trouble.

I have a Vanguard brokerage account with dividend paying stocks, and a Vanguard account with a Money Market fund. When I downloaded transactions from Vanguard, and there was a dividend payment, Vanguard showed these as four transactions per dividend:

1- Brokerage account: Cash Dividend
2- Brokerage account: Transfer cash to Vanguard account
3- Vanguard account: Receive cash from transaction #2
4- Vanguard account: But Money market fund with transferred cash

This seemed burdonesome to me, so I edited the downloaded transaction 1 and 2 to a single DivX transaction, and deleted transaction 4 completely, showing my Money Market holdings as cash. I call this the

2-transaction form.

Now I am getting errors on my One-Step-Update, although the transactions are coming through as they did before.

In trying to debug the One-step-update error, I downloaded all transactions from the last year-and-a-half into a new quicken file, in the 4-transaction form form they were created by Vanguard (no editing).

I'd like to take my file and remove all transactions from the last year-and-a-half, and replace them with the transactions that were downloaded into the new Quicken file.

Is there a relatively painless way to do this?
