I decided to switch from Quicken's shortcut keys such as control-S to split a transaction, control-X to switch to the other half of a transfer, etc. I really do prefer the Microsoft standard functions for these keys. But how do I do the Control-X (switch) function, etc.?

What version of Quicken?
Only Ctl-X, Ctl-C, Ctl-V and Ctl-Z are affected by this change. Everything else, including Ctl-S (split) should still work.
For Q2006, from the top menu in the Quicken window click Edit | Preferences | Quicken Program | Setup then click the "Help" button to see the see the equivalent function for the Quicken standard keyboard mappings (listed below in case you have a different Quicken version).
Ctl-X: Go to Matching Transfer (Edit menu > Transaction > Go to matching transfer) becomes Cut Ctl-C: Category List (Tools menu) becomes Copy Ctl-V: Void Transaction (Edit menu > Transaction > Void Transaction) Paste Ctl-Z: QuickZoom a report amount (Report window) becomes Undo
For Ctl-X you can also hold down the ALT key then type the letter underlined in the menu title, i.e. Alt-erg [Alt-dg also works for earlier Quicken versions and within some account types in later versions].
Thanks. How do I get the Ctrl-X functionality (go to matching transfer) when Ctrl-X is used for CUT? Likewise, how do I void a transaction without Ctrl-V?
Right click the transaction.
I thought my above response answered these questions. Guess I wasn't clear enough.
To go to the matching transaction (the "old" Ctrl-X) click on "Edit" in the menu bar at the top of the Quicken window, then click on "Transaction" in the resulting submenu, then click on "Go to matching transaction" in the next submenu. As an alternative you can select these menu items by typing in "erg" while holding down the "ALT" key on your keyboard ( often described as Alt-erg).
Also, the "Edit" command item that appears with the selected transaction (alongside "Enter" and "Split") may, for some account types, have a "Go to matching transfer" item in its command list. The shortcut for this is Alt-dg). If that doesn't work, you might try just right-clicking inside the selected transaction and look for a "Go to matching transfer" command in the resulting menu.
To void a transaction, click "Edit" in the top menu bar then "Transaction" then "Void Transaction(s)". Or you can use the "Edit" command for the selected transaction, which may have a "Void transaction(s)" command. This works for checking, savings and credit card accounts but not for investment accounts. I'm not sure you can void an investment transaction; I think you have to delete it (someone correct me if I'm wrong).
Is this clear enough? If not, post back and I or someone else will try again.

Ahhh. That's it. Fairly fast. 2 click plus selecting a menu item. Thanks.
Your welcome.
