Size of Stock Price File

Deleting prices in Quicken *may* reduce the time it takes Quicken to do certain tasks, even if the Windows price file remains the same size.

But I don't know of anyway to reduce the size of the Windows file of Quicken prices ... except to create a new, empty, price file and add prices to it.

While not necessarily as simple as deleting prices from within Quicken, it may not be as complex as it sounds.

I think the general process would be to:

1.) Export prices - to QIF file - from current Quicken data (export "Security List") 2.) Delete unwanted prices from the QIF file (the hard part) --- but I think if you have already deleted those prices in Quicken, they should not export (I didn't test this) 3.) Create an empty Quicken price (qph) file (delete or rename the existing file, or create a new Quicken data file) 4.) Import the modified QIF file of prices into Quicken when Quicken has the empty price (QPH) file open

The result would be a QPH file of just the prices you wanted; it could be used with any Quicken data fileset that had the same securities.
