Hi, Jeff.
Didn't we just do this a couple of weeks ago?
Ah, yes. You started the thread, "Quicken insists on short sales" on
7/14/11. After a couple of exchanges, you reported on 7/15/11 4:22 PM (Texas time) as follows:
Hi R.C.
Problem solved. Going to each transaction one at a time I discovered the problem.
It was a stock split that was entered wrong in Q. Instead of 9 shares from 6, it was entered as 0 from 6
When corrected, all went well.
Thanks for helping.
Jeff
In that thread, I delivered the standard advice in such situations: "So always tell it the exact dollars and cents, and the exact number of shares. Don't make it calculate the number of shares."

I've used Quicken for 15 years and have never come across this problem. I am now in Quicken Deluxe desktop 2011.
Problem: Quicken will not let me sell shares I own. No it is not a share name or date issue.
I put an image of the problem at

Even though I have 16 shares, when I try to sell 3 shares, Quicken insists it is a short sale - which is wrong.
Even when I select the shares to sell, or let it choose them, Quicken insists it is a "short" sale.
How do I get around this problem?
