Can not sell KFT

Hi All:

Every thing with the Kraft spin off from MO is a bag of worms, why can't intuit get things right, if they would just improve on the program from year to year, instead of trying make a totally new program with all new whistles and bells, that are full of bugs.

New problem, sold all my KFT today, downloaded the transactions into Quicken 2006, tried to accept them, got the following message [ACCEPTING A SHORT TRANSACTION]. Quicken thinks I do not hold any shares of KFT! and I want to short some!!! WHY??

Hope someone can help. tks Guys. GB

Hi, GB.

The usual "fix" is to just check the "Sell all shares in this account" box and let Quicken figure out how many decimal places are needed to get rid of any fractional shares. It apparently thinks you are trying to sell 100 shares when you hold only 99.9999...

Since I don't download transactions, I don't know how to adjust rounding errors in that case. My guess is that you could use the Adjust Share Balance transaction before the sale, but I have never done this, so I'll let others provide the details.

Hi RC

Tks for your quick reply, Although I had tried what you suggest before, it did not work. I went back and tried again and this time it worked [using "sell all"]. I think there is somekinda bug in my Quicken data file, because I get some weird glitches quite often. I have emailed my data files to intuit, they won't do anything about it, they could care less. They got their money from me that is all they care about.

Tks again RC and every one else that gave me good advice thanks.
