quicken 2007 stability

I have used Intuit products since Quicken for DOS. As the software has become more sophisticated, it has become buggier. I purchased a MacPowerbook in order to avoid the whole virus issue etc. and purchased Quicken for Mac (version?) It was a nightmarre. It didn't resemble Quicken/Win at all. I returned to Quicken/win/2005. I can realte to all the placeholder problems that have been mentioned here.

Question: While 2005 isn't perfect, it seems to be relatively stable. Intuit ultimately will create a situation whereby we are all forced to purchase one of their newer programs by not supporting the older versions. Is Q2007 sufficiently stable to consider purchasing it now or is it still effectively a beta program?

Question: Does anyone know whether the buzz about Quicken Health is positive?

Responses appreciated. Thanks

Hi, pelicanplayhouse.

If you are waiting for a perfect version of Quicken, you'll have a long wait. But I and thousands (millions?) of others have been using Quicken

2007 for most of a year now. Yes, it has bugs. But I've had success with it - in WinXP Pro (x86 and x64), in several beta versions of Vista, and in Vista Ultimate (x86 and x64) since Vista "went Gold" in November. I'm sure that if you check the archives, there were as many questions about Q2005 (and Q2000 and Q1995...) when it was new and current as about Q2007 now. Yes, Intuit does "sunset" older versions so that they can support current versions, just like other product manufacturers. But that means only that they don't update the program any more, and they stop supporting some downloads. You can continue to use Q2005 for another 10 years, probably, if you don't download transactions.

And, while I have no inside information, I'm sure the Q2008 beta is in full swing now.

As to Quicken Health, just what is the buzz to which you refer?

Have you visited the Quicken forum on Quicken Medical Expense Manager? Hve you visited the info page on Quicken Health?

I also purchased a MAC mainly for simplicity of use for the family. the parnoia of virus'' seems a bit over the top to make a decision for computer purchases.

On the Mac, I run Q2007 for Windows... In fact to me the MAC applications seem a bit buggy (if that is a term) so I go back to the windows side of the house.Q2007 is stable from my perspective for tracking stock trades, finances in general and works well, with budgetting and downloads.

An observation on my own.... I am more dangerous than any virus released todate...... Virus 2007-0 vs. me -2 as far as OS reloads. The MAC has been in the shop 3times with various ailments (power supply needed to be replaced, lan connection broke, hard disk problems.

If you are truly worried about a virus try getting virus potection- $69.00 max versus a new PC/MAC
