Can't close account

I have an account with Chase that is online enabled. It is one of 3 Chase accounts that updates when I manually press the button. I have other accounts also. I recently paid this account off so the balance has been zero for months. There is still a red flag in the account window stating I have unmatched transactions. This is not true as it is reconciled. Chase recently disabled this account & now I am getting errors when I sync up. The program offers me a button to accept all transactions, but this does nothing. I tried to edit the account disabling online sync but I keep getting the same warnings. I tried running a file repair. It flagged a few things but I can not close this account. It's more of an annoyance now as every time I sync I get delays & the same error. Is there a way to drill down to the problem?

Some questions/observations/notes:

Just because your Quicken account is in balance (and reconciled), doesn't mean there can not be any downloaded transactions to accept. Quicken transactions can be reconciled even if they have never been downloaded, and if those downloaded transactions "match" existing Quicken transactions, accepting the downloaded transactions would not alter the account balance.

I don't understand "a button to accept all transactions, but this does nothing". Are we talking about the "Accept All" button in the "Accept transactions" window below the register? Usually if you can see an "Accept All" button, you can also see the transactions that it will accept - do you see those transactions? If so, then are you saying that the downloaded transactions are present/visible but do not enter the register when you click Accept All?

Why do you want to "close" the account? My observation is that the Quicken "close account" feature offers virtually no benefit (and it's irreversible). If you don't want to deal with the account on a regular basis anymore, you can just "Hide" it.

As far as getting bugged about the account when you do a One Step Update, you can uncheck the box that tells Quicken to download that account during One Step Update, so Quicken will not attempt to download from that account again. I believe that download errors generally remain in the One Step Update Summary until: Quicken successfully completes the task that failed, the account that had the error is deleted, or the RUNTIME.DAT file is renamed/deleted.

If you are unable to Accept the downloaded transactions, and you are certain you do not want/need them, you should be able to create a new Quicken account of the same type, "move" the transactions from the old account to the new account, then delete the old account. If the old account contains many reconciled transactions, the process will go much faster, if you use "Copy transaction(s)/Paste transaction(s)" to put the transactions in the new account. Deleting the old account will complete the "move". For protection, you should backup before attempting the above.

You did not state what Quicken year/version you have; sometimes that information is useful.

I can not see the transactions that are causing the error. There is a red flag in account window. The window to accept all is available when I try to close or disable online access. I no longer need the account as this was a HELOC paid off last year & closed. I'm an accountant & know what I am doing financially, just don't understand the program enough to trouble shoot these errors. All I know is I can't disable the account, can't find the unmatched transactions & they appear nowhere. I will try your suggestion of unchecking in the one step update (Quicken Deluxe 2014). I really miss my MS Money :(
