Trouble shooting

Hello; We use QW 2003 Deluxe, is there a system available to trouble shoot the quicken program. This problem has been occurring for a long time, thinking I was my entering data incorrectly, but now I know this can not be the cause.

Data is entered into the program that is not correct, monies are subtracted from registers amounting to several thousands of dollars in investment registers, phantom numbers are put into registers that I know I have not put in. I save all our data to disc routinely, only to find that the data saved from the previous day was not copied completely.

We use several safety programs, anti-virus, firewall and others to protect our data.

I realize that I am rambling, sorry, but I am at wits end to solve this dilema. I do like the the quicken program and have several years of data stored within, but what is happening is very frustating say the least.

Any tips would certainly be appreciated as to trouble shoot and resolve what may be happening. Thank-You in advance for any information that may be helpful.

Hi, dmorri.

Could you tell us a little about your computer: make and model (of the motherboard, if you built it yourself); how much RAM; how many hard drives, which interface, and how are they partitioned and formatted... Oh, and which version of Windows are you running? No, we probably don't need ALL that info, but it would help if we knew some of it. You can see your computer; we can't; all we know about it is what you tell us. For all we know, you may be running a Mac! (Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it does make a difference in our efforts to help you.)

We have to start somewhere, so...

How does this happen? How do you know that it has happened?

Same questions.

Same questions. (Getting monotonous, ain't it?)

My guess is that all your problems are hardware related, not software. This last symptom points to something like bad or misconfigured HD cables or drives. This might cause the other problems, too, but defective or mismatched RAM also might cause them. Maybe the basic problem is simply overheating of the computer, perhaps caused by dust buildup or inadequate airflow around the computer.

Tell us more about your computer and we probably will have a better chance to help you.

software. This

inadequate

trouble

Thank-You for your responce R.C. Im don't know where to begin so I will start with your qquestions. We have a Compaq 6000 with a Pentium Processor 2.4 GHz

512 NB Dram Memory Two CD, one re-writable the other a DVD Use windows XP

In one of our investment accounts there was as a large with-drawal with no idea where ,money went!

I save all our data to CD,. it has been a routine occurance the next time I view the contents of the CD, there is missing data.

Sorry to make this so long?

I did an example the other day!

I made a fictious purchase, used money I had in a brokerage account, made a purchase of IBM "fictiously" then entered data for three dividends paid, I then went to sellx to but the money back into the brokerage account, I entered a sellx command, received the notice security not found. DUH!!!!!!

Also when I set up a new security it asks for the purchase date which I use correctly, followed up with other information, Name ,price, shares, etc: then it inputs the data into the register format. Problem is it uses the current date which is not correct, could be as much as days or months when security was purchased.

Sorry it is so long, hopefully with this information ,maybe something will flag as being wrong.

I have considered removing the QW program after saving the data and re-install, but if I have corrupted data and re-install the data will I not be back where I started?????Again thanks for any help you wish to give!!!
