Turbotax Premier

What does Turbotax Premier do or have that makes it better for investments?

I tried this in 2006. It might've changed since then. The features that applied to me (but weren't in Deluxe) were:

- Cost Basis Lookup for stocks. This is particularly useful if you haven't kept track of things like reinvested dividends, mergers, spin-offs, etc. See preview at

- Wash sale calculations. (I wasn't impressed.)

- Allocates proceeds for a stock sale where shares were purchased on different dates. (Easy to do yourself.)

Since (I like to think) I keep good records, the extra features weren't worth the extra cost to me, so I went back to Deluxe.

The situation might be different for people with rental property or stock options or more sophisticated investment strategies than just holding stocks, bonds and mutual funds.

Thanks. It seems that every year I have a few stocks with complicated bases, ie merger with some cash and a spin-off. It might be worth a try.
