UK Version

I am still using Quicken 2002 Deluxe and would like to update but all the recent versions I have looked at are only for the US market. Can anyone please tell me what was the latest UK version?

There isn't a current version of Quicken in the UK. Intuit dropped all support for Quicken in the UK earkier this year to concentrate on Quickbooks. The last UK version were the various flavours of Quicken XG.

You're outta luck. Intuit UK dropped the product (and users) earlier this year. The last version available in the UK market was Quicken XG

2004.

Unfortunately you won't be able to convert your UK data file to one of the international flavours of Quicken. They're not compatible.

Not sure what you mean by "Unfortunately you won't be able to convert your UK data file to one of the international flavours of Quicken. They're not compatible." I have recently loaded Quicken 7 onto a laptop and my data (UK £ and $CAD) from Quicken 99 (all residing on my desktop) converted with a bit of a struggle (had to convert in safe mode). Clearly, UK Banking access and functions specific to the USA won't be useable but I think basic Quicken functions will work.

I say I think because I haven't really tried to use Quicken 7 as my first impressions were the interface was so cluttered and no where near so 'user friendly' as Quicken 99 which satisfies my needs so I see no point in struggling to adjust to Quicken 7 but I am sure all the simple functions will work in a UK environment.

When you try to open your UK data file in the Non-UK version of Quicken (eg. the US version) it pops up a message saying, "European files are not supported in the US version of Quicken".

That's interesting! Maybe it's different in your version. Is Quicken 7 the latest version, i.e. Quciken 2007?

I'm used to that! The UK banking access is useless here where I live (South Africa) anyway...

I'd like to at least have the option of trying it - but I don't... Intuit no longer offers a trial version. (And the money back "guarantee" isn't a viable option...)

The one thing that I do like in in the more recent versions is the ability to attach scanned copies of receipts or statements to the transaction in the register. It's nice for big ticket items...

Can you explain the problems you had with the conversion a bit more?

You may be right as the Quicken 99 version that I use was a Canadian Version not a UK version. Converting GBP(£) accounts from this version to Quicken 2007 was no problem.

Yes, Quicken 2007. I have no idea why the conversion process from the Quicken 9 files to the 2007 format hung every time I tried it in 'normal' mode (WINXP Pro) but it completed without problems when I ran it in 'safe mode'.

I can only tell you that the conversion 'hung' and Task Manager reported 'not responding when in 'normal' mode. I didn't try shutting down everything in the background and retry but tried running the conversion in 'safe mode' (WINXP Pro) that completed without problems.

I assume there was something runing in the background on my machine that caused the hiccup, it is likely you may not have the same problem.

Hope this helps.

I certainly hope you will "try" to use Q2007 US very soon and report back to this group, because if you have gotten a US version of Quicken to convert data from a non-US version of Quicken; you have done something which Intuit has stated is impossible.
