Update BofA Visa cards

Hi. My B of A card is not updating in Quicken. I can log into the site directly but how do I get it to update directly into Quicken?

Thanks

Shorty:

I haven't been able to use Q2007 H&B's One Step Update & Express Web Connect for my one BoA credit card for ages.

Every month or so, I enable EWC to see if the problem has been fixed, but invariably, after a successful initial download, EWC fails the next day.

I just go to the web site, and download via Web Connect qfx, just like in the old days.

Bob

P.S. I think somebody posted that BoA will enable current transaction downloads next month.

Thanks

Bank of America Credit Cards will only update once per month for the vast majority of the users. This was a change when they updated their online banking with the MBNA merger. You just follow the steps in express web and it should work okay (all three of my former MBNA cards are working). I believe I got an error message during the initial set- up, but I ignored it and Quicken completed the additional steps needed to set-up.

For about two months now I have been having problems with Bank of America website for my credit card (yes I was formerly MBNA). I actually was able to download one statement successfully this January. Now, after I log on to the site successfully I have been unable to go to the web page "Account Details" where I could download statements in QFX format. Internet Explorer

7 and Firefox both came back with the error message that the web page could not be found and to make sure I was connected to the internet.

I spent a lot of time with customer service on the phone, and finally one agent told me that based on other issues they had seen in the past it might be the Linksys router of my home network that could be the issue (it is a BEFSR41 v2.0, firmware version 1.46.00). So I later used dial-up, thus not going through the router to the DSL modem, and everything worked fine. That is, I was able to access my account details and download a QFX format statement that Quicken 2006 took without any difficulty.

Well, I guess this will be my workaround and I am fortunate that my dialup is pretty fast. Still a little bit of a hassle but nothing compared to entering all the transactions by hand. I just disable the LAN connection and then Connect via dialup, download the statement, disconnect the dialup and enable the LAN. Maybe it is a firewall setting that is wrong (I have the B of A website on the exceptions list on the WinXP firewall) and I still have a little research to do on that possibility if I find the time.

Often (always?) you need to refresh the firewall setting for Quicken after you have applied a Quicken program update. If you update from R3 to R4, for example, you may need to "remind" your firewall to allow qw.exe access to the internet.

Linksys has (had?) excellent technical support. Maybe call them and see if they have any ideas. Maybe there is a log file you can turn on to find out which port is being used that your firewall is blocking.

BTW, I had a similar situation a while ago with BoA too. Dial up worked but my cable access did not. I had to create a new file and import all of the transactions to fix the problem. And yes, I could get the auto updates to work while on dial up. Go figure.

Thanks John,

I did not have the Quicken program on the firewall exception list. This did not help me get to the right web page when connected via LAN, but I am glad to know the tip for the future.
