Wells Fargo - Are you happy with it's Direct Connect service? Problems?

Jul 28, 2006 5 Replies

I've seen many reports of recent trouble with Quicken Direct Connect with Wells Fargo.

I was considering going ahead and PAYING to use Direct Connec with my bank, Wells Fargo.

Are there any issues I should be aware of insofar as problems with using the two together?

Has WF resolved any problems with their Direct Connect dowloads?

Thanks for any advice!

I have been using WF direct connect since 1996 and have had No problems at all. Works with my checking, money market, Visa and WF brokerage account. Brokerage account recently went to direct connect. One Step Update and all accounts are updated. I'm using Quicken 2005. I maintain the minimum balance required (checking, money market savings and brokerage accounts added together) and thus pay NO monthly fees. Hpe this helps

I have been banking with WF for many years (even grandfathered in before NorWest bought WF) and have substantial balances in checking and money market savings. I still am charged $3 a month for direct connect (vs. web connect). I read the fine print in WF terms and did not find anywhere that the monthly fee is waived, as it is for bill pay. I also called WF with no success. Can you tell me where to find the policy that waives the $3 monthly Quicken online banking fee? Thanks.

P.S. Although $36/yr isn't that much, now that WF also provides web connect (QFX) free, I'm considering using that instead.

.............................. Don't worry about what people think; they don't do it very often.

I too have been using Direct Connect and bill pay for many years. I use Q2006 Deluxe but have not had issuess with any of the previous versions.

I update the accounts (6 of them) in on swoop and it also sends the online payments out.

Only issue I have ever has is that some of the smaller payees (dentist, pedatrition, etc.) take a while to get a payment. In the rare cases where I get charged a fee WF will pay the fee and work with Checkfree to get the payment.

Direct Connect is always available as far as I can tell and very accurate.

Hope that helps.

PS I pay the 3.95 and 6.95 for DC and BP. Still cheaper than checks and stamps for the number I pay every month.

If there is a way to waive the fees for DC I don't know of any but is interested in hearing them.

Thanks for the info Al. I too have a PMA account along with many other accounts. I think I need to have a chat with my banker about the bill pay fee I have been paying.

Good info. I should snoop around that website a bit more than I do.

cheers,

john
