Wells Fargo One Step Update

I may have asked a similar question a while back about a different account, so if I did, my apologies. I searched for the answer and couldn't find it, so here is the current problem I'd like help with:

I have two Visa Credit Cards with Wells Fargo, but one is inactive and I don't care about it. When I did a one-step update I used to get a warning that WF had changed and I needed to change my settings. I tried and it didn't work. I can't remember what I did but the result is now that an all-accounts OSU no long includes WF.

So I went to Account List and under Transaction Download, it says "No (Activate download)". I choose that and it asks me to sign in to connect my accounts to Quicken. I then get a message asking me to sign into Wells Fargo Bank. A web page opens in FireFox Asking for a phone number to text for a one-time code. I get the code and enter it, and the web site shows my both WF CC accounts, both grayed out (previously entitled for sharing with Quicken). I click Continue and then Connect and Quicken then provides an Activate One Step Update Windows showing both CC accounts

But both accounts are shown as type "Checking." and under "Nickname in Quicken" there are two no longer used checking account names. The default action is "Link to existing..." and the two other choices are "Add to Quicken" and "Don't add to Quicken.

Nothing I've tried has worked. What can I do to make this work properly?"

You're not the only one having difficulties with Wells Fargo.

Here's one Quicken Community discussion

There are others.

I'm not a Wells Fargo customer, so I can't provide any first hand information.

But I believe that Wells Fargo is in the midst of a conversion to the Express Web Connect+ (EWC+) connection method; and I think that is what is bedeviling many Wells Fargo users.

Here's a Quicken Community Alert for the Wells Fargo conversion:

I think I read somewhere in the Quicken Community that Wells Fargo Direct Connect users did not need to migrate to EWC+ (at least not at this time).

[The changeover to EWC+ for other financial institutions has frequently been accompanied by glitches; I think in most cases, users had to wait until the problems were fixed. And either party, Quicken or the financial institution (or both), may be the culprit.]

If the Community Alert above does not help, to insure you give yourself the best chance to succeed, I suggest:

1.) Deactivate EVERY Wells Fargo account in your file (including any hidden, or unused, accounts) 2.) Use the Add Account process to "re-activate" your Wells Fargo accounts. When you finish the authorization part of the process (having authorized every Wells Fargo account you want to download), Quicken should present you with each WF account it finds; typically. with the opportunity to choose Account Type, and Add Account, Link Account (you must make sure the "link" is to the correct Quicken account), or Do Not Add Account.

If Quicken presents the wrong Account Type and does not give you the opportunity to change it, I don't think you have much choice except to wait until the issue is fixed.

OK, thanks for trying. I think I'll wait. What's happening now is that Wells Fargo Credit Card transactions are going to this obsolete bank account. I get around the problem by cutting and pasting the transactions to the correct account.
