Will Not Show % Returns

Since I updated my 2002 Quicken Basic to 2005 Basic last year, I have been getting N/A (instead of %) for most of the Returns in my Portfolio reports. What is the problem? Please help and tell me how to fix it. Thanks.

That's a result of the way Quicken computes returns. It uses its "internal rate of return" function and if you read about that in Quicken documentation, it says the security price must be known on the day before the period and the last day of the period. Now, if you are asking for a 1-year average and haven't owned the security for at least a year and a day, you will get the "N/A" result.

Quicken's return numbers all appear to be broken in one way or another. I can't get them to line up with numbers published by Vanguard or by the Blue Chip stock companies that I own. So, check with the sources before making any investment decisions.
