ma-gee (with 'a' as in 'apple' and 'gee' like "gee whiz." But only in my head. When talking to people out loud, it's modified-adjusted-gross-income which even then takes some explaining. Pronounce the acronym and you're certain to get a blank stare.
An IRS gift of the Magi? hmm
I don't believe I've ever heard anyone say it out loud, but in my mind's ear it's always reminded me of a star in the East. I suspect this is an extension of always hearing "A G I" for AGI.
Interesting side note. You can always spot an IRS veteran. They're the only people who can seamlessly pronounce "IRS." We used to howl at the professional actors hired for training videos when they tried to get it out.

When I get my bills for Medicare IRMAA premiums, I certainly do think of them as the gift of the MAGI. Can't wait for my IRAs to start their MRDs in a few years' time which will increase my MAGI (and hence IRMAA premiums) even further.

I just heard myself say "modified ay gee eye," in the context of listeners who by da** ought to know what "AGI" is.
