Where are the usual incentive deals for using various online tax softwares, such as turbo for 40% off or whatever? Now they seem to bait you in with the false hope that you can finish in their simple free mode.
I don't want to end up using a live tax person - did you hear about this one who hired a hit man against his unhappy customers?

Unhappy? They were, are, going to testify against him in federal court.
They have telephone filing there, so there's also no issue of paying for the privilege of E-filing. Although it does take about 25 minutes to telefile.
For my own part, I used Turbotax and found it was wrong - I mean, just plain in error, flat-out wrong - and got them to give me a refund. Next year I have to either use someone else's software or file by hand. (There were 2 errors, one was not carrying through a Roth conversion to taxable income, the other was a complete screwup on Form 1116, Foreign Tax Credit.)
