Today Intuit waved the white flag because of the outrage of it's customers and loss of market share over the new pricing policy of charging an additional $9.95 per additional (the first return in included in the base price) return either e-filed OR printed. While many customers understand charging extra for e-filing, almost none could accept charging extra to only PRINT a return on their own computer.
³We¹re responding to changing market conditions and customer feedback,² said Dan Maurer, general manager of Intuit¹s consumer division. In the news release:

Intuit says that as of now there will be NO additional charge to EITHER e-file OR print. Users can print at will as many returns as desired without incurring any extra charge and can e-file up to a total of 5 federal returns without incurring any extra charge. (The limit of 5 federal e-filed returns is an IRS restriction imposed on all tax software vendors).
