Alliance & Leister Internet Banking Available balance isn't correct.

A few days back I transered some funds from one account to another (both within A&L). I checked the available balance and did the transfer, that very night A&L removed funds that were in clearing but were not showing on my available balance. This pushed me into the red, guess what they charged me £50 for the privelage.

When I queried this they told me they would reduce the fine to £25 (out of the kindness of their hearts) but I should have checked the available balance. I explained that I did and that it isn't showing items in clearing but they dissbelieved me.

I have now done several screenprints and sent them back with my formal letter of complaint, but wondered if I am alone???

At one point I was told by Mr Dubuisson at the Ashford site "the available balance does not always indicate the true figure available and if you do not trust Internet Banking, can I suggest that you call Customer Services?"

I will never use Internet Banking again, what's the point if I need to check every stage with Customer (LOL) Services.

You've done the right thing in complaining. Keep a note of the date and time of the call is it indicates that they acknowledge there is a problem. Available balance should mean just that.

Are you sure that they didn't mean with some browsers? Many banks seem to believe that the only secure browser is IE (and usually only the latest version) and they don't support other browsers

At least you got registered. I've tried to register for their internet banking (on several different pc's with various operating systems, firewall protections, broadband speeds etc) and it didnt work. When i phoned them to get help, they told me that it doesnt work with some computers and they dont know why. I've given up.
