Anyone else receive an interest rate increase notification email from Egg?

I'm just wandering whether this is a targeted thing.

I've received an email today notifying me that the rate on my egg card will be increased from 16.9% to 17.9% from 12 March.

And a couple of days after my complaint to them about their practice of charging interest on balance transfer fees. Bad timing :)

The interest rate doesn't affect me as I pay my account off in full every time. I guess such people would be the ones targeted?

The egg card is looking more and more unattractive. I may well be getting the scissors out soon.

I haven't received it.

And to think they used to be cheap.

I did mine after getting

The webshite's still saying 16.9%

A bit of Googling suggests that some Egg interest rate modifications are targeted with some getting a decrease in their rates, others no change, and I guess the majority an increase. Probably new joiners are given the 16.9% rate hence the reason the website hasn't changed.

I seem to remember (as pointed out by another poster) that Egg used to give a months notice of changes that were detrimental (eg interest rate hikes)

I've received the luxury of 9 days notice. I'll have another trawl through the T&Cs. I bet you they've changed.

Received it on the 5th March.
