average bills

What is the average cost of an electricity bill? I have just moved into my own place with a partner, and over the past 9 months, my bills have amounted to approx 450. Is this reasonable?

I do not have gas in my flat and rarely put the boiler on because the only time we use hot water is to do the dishes so we just boil some water from the kettle for that. We also have an electric shower and storage heaters in the communal areas and oil heaters in the bedrooms.

My electricity bill is about £330 p.a. I use gas for heating & hot water (exc shower) but have the computer on quite a lot of the time.

How long's a piece of string, but in a mainly electric house that doesn't seem unreasonable.

Currently we're using about 950 units a month which costs about 60 p.m. and we don't use electricity for space or water heating if we can avoid it.

We only use gas for 1 fire and hob - everything else is electric inc shower, night storage heaters and shower....monthly cost of gas is £6, monthly electricity is £75 - so total energy costs per year are £972 £81 per month.

4-bedroomed house occupied by two people.

Electricity typically 5,000kWh per year, about £350 last year.

Gas typically 22,000kWh per year, about £400 last year. Used for all heating and gas hob.

OK, a bit more info

2 bed house, 1 occupant gas: heating, hot water & hob electricity: shower, computer (on quite a lot) & oven

per annum Gas £265 (14,000 kWh) Electricity £330 (4,500 kWh) Total £595

which works out as electricity about 4 times dearer than gas per kWh

(but does raise the theoretical question whether 1 kWh of gas would heat water to the same temperature as 1kWh of electricity....) (I can see this one run and run....)
