The electricity bill for a one bedroomed flat with everything connected to electricity with storage heaters might be up to 50 per month in the winter (more if you come from somewhere warm and want more heat). This could be reduced by finding somewhere with mains gas, good insulation and double glazing. This figure will be more than halved in the summer months.

Water/drainage might be 20 per month for the same property.

If you increase these figures proportionally for larger properties, you will get something to work with.

I am sure someone will reply saying they pay much more or much less than this, particularly for heating. It all depends on preferences and choices. One person might like to turn the heating on while another will wear a woollen jumper or two. Some people like to heat a bedroom, others like an electric blanket. Some houses are heated all day, other houses are empty between setting off for work and the pubs closing.
