Bank Transfers

Hi there,

Does anyone know how long it will take for a transfer from the The Bank of Scotland to the Halifax?

By what method? Telegraphic transfer or whatever is expensive but nearly instantaneous. BACS would probably be 3-4 working days. Write yourself a cheque and post it, and at this time of year it could take weeks.

Should be same day shouldn't it? Isn't it treated as an internal transaction, i.e. same as BOS to BOS or Halifax to Halifax?

No.

Odd. But then again maybe not so odd, since it would reduce the profit they make from the interest they earn while funds are 'in the system'.

I'm not sure that's the correct answer. It's all HBOS now, innit.

HBOS is Halifax Bank of Scotland so should be instantaneous if an Internet Banking Transfer. But I suspect the IT systems have not yet been merged.

So what?!

Try sending from Natwest to Coutts, or from Barclays to Woolwich! Still takes the 3 days.

The fact that Halifax and BOS have merged makes no difference I am afraid.

I remember after RBS took over Nat West. I went into the local Natwest to ask if I could pay my RBS Visa bill there without charge - no chance.

Without a hint of irony, Ronald Raygun astounded uk.finance on 14 Dec 2004 by announcing:

Their computers aren't though.
