Barclaycard - and new application.

Hi,

Placed a application 4 a barclaycard some months ago, and, as a big surprise(Have only lived in the uk for 12 months, I got this lovely letter telling me, that "I have now done the hard bit", and it was now a question of me signing the credit agreement

  • attach a payslip, bankstatement and a utility bill, and it will then only be a questions of days before I'll recieve the card..

That is now five weeks ago..

The truble is not about when I get the card, but I am in the situation, that I need to documentation that they have (tax return calculation in Denmark), and I can't get a hold on them. They are reffering to a 0870 (there new-customers department), witch have a voicemail telling that due to the "high amounth of callers", they are forced to have that line closed for personal attention.. And if I call the main helpline, I am getting promted to key in a cardnumber. Dont work (and yes, I have tried with a "dummy" number)..

So my question is.. Does anyone know how to get a hold to a "living person" inside the barclaycard company..

:)

Phone the number and dont press any keys and just wait. Normally this will put you through to a real person.

This may not help you this time, but it worked with DSS. The main number just got you into a machine which eventually cut you off, but we had an extension number. When we spoke to real people it wasn't much better, but this worked:

If you have an extension number, try deleting the last four digits of the phone number and replacing them with the four digit extension number.

alternatively look out for their "international" phone number (this will be the local number as 0870 etc are not accesible internationally)

or you can call up directory enquires and get a number for barclaycard lost and stolen and phone them, give them some grief and get the customer service number from them

good luck, as barclaycard, like all uk companies, have become severely disinterested in phone customer service, hence they make it difficult to get through to somebody on the princable that it is expensive to run these call centres in the uk, and indian call centres attract a lot of problems from the media and general public who are against the idea of transferring the work outside of the uk.

i understand that GE Capital and HSBC are massive employers in Hyderabad, India - for UK phone and processing work

Call Barclaycard HQ in Northampton on 01604 234234 and choose the option to speak to an operator (from memory, it's number 5 on the menu).
