Barclaycard - Extended Warranties - Plasma TVs

Hi group,

I've read about the extended warranty provided by Barclaycard on "most household appliances".

Does anyone know whether they'd agree to accept a plasma television on this scheme? Or would it be rejected? I am thinking about purchasing, using a Barclaycard Visa Gold.

Thanks in advance.

Why should a plasma tv be different from any other product - are they particularly likely to require a repair after the normal 1 year warranty has passed?

0870?

Expensive.

Try 0800 9177277 or 01604 230230.

Dunno but there are some products that barclaycard will not insure, including PDAs and PC's. I assume this is because they know what failure rates are and cost of repair, and deem them too expensive to insure.Might be the same with plasma's.

I have a funny feeling I heard somewhere recently that Barclaycard are dropping the extended warranty thing, so check carefully!

Without a hint of irony, "Tumbleweed" astounded uk.finance on 10 Nov 2004 by announcing:

Might also be because these are more likely to be tinkered with by the owner.

IIRC barclays are dropping the 90 insurance that was included (remember rowan atkinson setting fire to his persian carpet?) but not the extended warranty.

The idea is that you get one year free and then pay to extend it futher. I would suspect that claims are quite low in the first year after manufact warranty expires.
