Birmingham Midshires fiddling the figures...

Hello everyone.

This morning I received a letter from Birmingham Midshires telling me that after the 31st of July, my ATM card will no longer work with my account. Apparently:

"As part of a recent review it has become clear that the cash card facility is being used by a small and declining number of customers. As the costs associated with providing this facility continue to rise we have taken the decision to remove it."

I refuse to believe that cash cards are being used by fewer people. The queues at cash machines all across the country are testament to this fact.

Then I remembered an important fact.

Birmingham Midshires have been refusing to renew all cash cards as they came to their expiry dates for the past couple of years. They had also discontinued the privilege to new customers. So it's no wonder they're being used by fewer people!

I hate companies that do stunts like this. It's completely disreputable. I have a feeling I won't have my account with them for much longer.

Perhaps they meant 'People who have this type of account, don't use the cash card facility part of it much' where 'this type of account' is some type of high interest account or similar rather than a simple money in-money out bank account.
