C&P in ID cards?

The UK's ID cards could be fitted with chip and pin technology to tackle identity fraud, the head of the agency responsible for them has said.

He said this could allow ID cards to be used in cash machines and help online consumers "assert their identities".

OK, so what is the point of that? I know that the government has promised that ID cards will eliminate ID theft and CC fraud (as well as illegal immigration,Terrorism,Obesity, the credit crunch and various diseases), but the whole point of the ID card security is that it is biometric! It is a bit like a bank fitting a new vault door with the latest locks and features and then saying lets add a yale latch so we can just use that!

No it's not. It's like having a vault door and another door to a different room.

They cannot be serious !!!!

PINs = Liability shift for fraud onto the Cardholder.

From The Herald (6 April 2009)

The Financial Ombudsman Service, which handles consumer complaints against banks, now deals with about 125 cases a month of customers locked in disputes over PIN fraud.

Very useful. If you forget who you are you can just go to the nearest ATM and find out.

What will they think of next?
