Car Insurance - What does this mean?

I have cancelled my car insurance with Churchill ( taken out on 2nd May 200) and have taken out car insurance from Zurich ( Eagle Star)

I received NO CLAIM DISCOUNT letter and its states that :

"NCD Entiltelment: 60% reperesenting 4 claim free years"

Does that mean that I have 4 years NCD?If so, I would need to contact Zurich and tell them to ammend the insurance to reflect the 4 years NCD as opposed to 3 years NCD i put originally when taking out the insurance.

Hope someone can explain.

Yes -

Date Claim Standard Free Discount Years

2/5/0 0 2/5/1 1 30% 2/5/2 2 40% 2/5/3 3 50% 2/5/4 4 60%

(assumes you had no NCD at 2/5/0) (the actual discount can vary a bit between insurers)

Yes, you'll get an extra 10% discount. They will ask to see a copy of the NCD notice within 30 days anyway. So they may, if they're charitable ;-) do it for you.

You have an answer to this from someone else that knows. I hope that sorts your problem.

I have just had a funny experience from an insurance co. (online) that had insured my motor for the past twelve months. They were quite reluctant to carry out my instructions of cancelling the monthly direct debit at the end of the year's insurance (April 14th). Saying "We can't guarantee to hold that price" three times over. Despite me saying that's ok! I don't want you to.

Having found cover for 100.00 less I requested a renewal form with my

4years you mention despite them giving me 9 years plus on my previous insurance with them. On asking them they said that's their policy and they're sticking to it.

My new insurers would only give me the 4 years unless I had documentation that proved otherwise. Two previous insurers kindly gave me renewal documents which covered the periods up to 19 years before so all was well in the end. But it just goes to show what competition does. Oh yes, they keep the documentation as well as proof. I hope they return it at the end of the year. Jim

Its funny you should say that - I was convinced I had 6 years NCD when I was with Tesco for two years but when the letter arrived it merely said 5. It didn't make any difference to my premium with my new company as the premium for 5 and 6 years NCD was the same.

Hmmm......perhaps they are all going to end up with the same difference..... :( No competition.

Presently, it appears to depend on the company. It can make a difference although all quotes I asked for online referred to the same accident free past of "5 years". My quote was 230'sh (fully comp) without the confirmation and 183.'sh with. My original company wanted me to renew at 298'sh.

However, some companies offer a little extra %age to encourage loyalty beyond the introductory year to the company. Being online means I tend to hop about even more than usual for car insurance. Cheers Jim

Same here, I've just changed using

Re the 10 years NCD, I can't imagine that if you claim it doesn't return to 2 years.
