Cost of living

Could anyone advice me as to whether there is a site giving "cost of living" figures for the period 1997 to 2004?

It could be that I have asked the wrong question but what I want to do is compare living costs over this period

You want RPI data (probably) .. although 'cost of living' depends on how you live (i.e. do you have a mortgage). The government site has several you can choose from - last release was on 12 October, so look for 'consumer prices index' on 12 October here:

hint: you need to set your right margin WAY over there-> to see the table properly.

statistics.gov.uk gives various figures for inflation. You could use these for that purpose.
