Cost of living index?

I'm a landlord and I want to specify in a tenancy agreement (for a studio flat) that the rent will increase every year, to keep pace with the cost of living.

Is there an appropriate cost-of-living index that I could use to calculate the exact amount of the rent increase every year?

Thank you

Allen

There's several, but you'll have to decide what is 'appropriate'. The headline RPI number is the easiest to find .. accessible (monthly) via the appropriate press release at

(and also published in sundry newspapers). In addition there is RPIX, and HCI (also covered in the same press release, but harder to find elsewhere).

I find that

is a better source.
