is Pound Sterling going to remain rising in value? What is your opinion and what is the evidence to prove that?

  1. Rising against what? Against USD - my strong opinion is yes (we can discuss why) . Against EURO - probably, no (long-term). Against gold - certainly, no.
  2. Rising for how long - days, weeks, months? Nikolay Chikhachev, Personal Financial advisor (my license is valid only for Quebec, Canada) Posted above is only personal opinion, and not an advice. Excuse me while I hijack this thread... I'm going to inherit some money in USD soon, probably January 2004. I know that I want to bring the money over into GBP, to buy a house in the UK. I don't know when we'll buy house, depends on when we can sell the house I'm living in at the moment.

Question is, do I convert the USD as soon in January, because interest rates are so much higher in UK (3-4% vs. barely more than 1% in USA), *and* the dollar may keep falling, or do I hold on and see if the US dollar rises before, say, June 2004?

I'm minded to convert the USD to GBP ASAP... opinions?

Oh, and I'm using Moneycorp to convert the money... does anyone want to recommend a better company to go through??

thanks -julii
