Credit card companies certainly know how to discourage customers reporting criminals!

I gave one credit card company a password they had to use if they called me but they never called me again! :-)

They tried to make out it was a password for me to quote when I called them but I insisted they admit that it was a password they they would have to use to confirm their identity to me.

That's a good idea!

But no, it was something I could remember.

If one of my banks phone me asking for passwords/security details I probably wouldn't give them out unless I was expecting a call from them. Once my phone company called me asking for my password but I was expecting a call so I gave it to them. Another time my bank phoned me asking me to confirm whether I'd made some recent large transactions but didn't ask me for any security details (rightly so).

I think if companies phone you and ask you to give you their security details they're very ignorant of security, after all anyone can phone me and say I'm from such&such bank, can I have your personal details? I think it should be made illegal for companies to do this.

It's particularly difficult to remember words with several mis-spellings in them. And bits missed out ("docious"). And sorry I haven't a clue what "antafagastap" is.

Not really, I bet you'll remember at least 3 very memorable words in here not indexed by Google or any dictionary (yet) ...

But mandatory for a secure password, lest some naughty person comes along and carries out a dictionary attack.

Antafagastap?

ISTR it being a place they taught us about in Geography lessons in

1960/61, You know, along with Galloping Gowtchos chewing cud on the Pam Pass, herding cows with their bowlarse for the Friggeryfeekos.

Not to mention the Bongocasin !

Use my principles in formulating your passwords and you'll be immune from hacking attacks by spotty 16 year olds, not least because they don't teach them "Real" Geography any more. :-(
