Currency convertor for use in MS Excel + TT advice needed

Does anyone know of where I can get an Excel template that uses a live database such as yahoo or the LSE to give accurate currency rates?

Would prefer to have a drop down menu system that converts X into Y. Bonus if it can display graphs such as price fluctuations for the last 6 months / year.

Also does anyone know of a service other than HSBC and Citi Bank, that give the going rate, take 2 working days to send the money and charge about 20?

HSBC dont give the going rate but they are quick to transfer money to other HSBC accounts worldwide. They charge 10 for the service. Citibank charge 30 but give the going rate. I am not too sure about Barclays/Natwest and LLoyds-TSB

Thanks for your help.

  1. Doesn't look like an Excel Template
  2. Doesn't use a live database

That is something I would have no idea how to do Jonathan, I wonder if Martin (aka "professor excel") is around this morning?

How do you set up a formula to mutiply Tesco's current share price by (say) 10,000?

I wonder what an 'accurate' currency rate is, given that, when compared Yahoo and LSE will give different rates between them at the same time, and for each of them individually, different rates at different times, and none of the rates will be a rate you will get.

Go into data / import external data / new web query

In the dialogue box that comes up, navigate to a website that contains tesco's share price

Click on Import

The items from the web page will be imported into cells in Excel

You can then create a formula in the normal way to work out the value of your holding.

Thanks for taking the trouble to post this Jonathan, I thought such a option would have been available 5 years ago but couldn't find it, a

*very* powerful feature.
