deferring salary payment

Hypothetical question, would this be legal?

If I was hypothetically earning a lot of money.

Could I draw up an agreement whereby I was paid 20,000 / year (or less) for x* number of years to lessen the tax burden for me?

  • where x is greater than the number of years I am actually working for.

In theory, probably.

Or have you considered the Salary Sacrifice option, whereby the 20K would be diverted to a Pension Scheme. The employer would also benefit from the NI saving which could be factored in also.
