I have a Dell dimension desktop pc which I purchased with a 3 year next working day service agreement. Recently when I went to move the pc the front panal came loose and wouldn't reattach as the connecting clips have broke. After contacting dell (always an Indian call centre) and explaining what happened they told me that moving the system invalidates the service agreement, totally absurd I know. I have decided to take them to court over this but the only address that I can find is located in Ireland. Does the small claims court in the UK cover claims in Ireland? Below is the reply I received from dell: From the general Terms and Conditions ( : Clause 7: Warranty Dell does not give a warranty guarantee protection for: o damage caused by incorrect installation, use, modifications or repair by any unauthorised 3rd party or yourself; o damage caused by any party (except Dell) or other external force; o fitness for any particular purpose; o 3rd Party Products, Software and IM specified by you. You will receive the warranty or licence for these products directly from their manufacturer or licensor; o any instruction given by you and correctly performed by Dell. From the Next Business Day agreement () IV: General Information: Damage Exclusions In addition to those items specified in Dell's Standard Terms and Conditions of Sale, Dell Service does not cover damage caused by: . Use of components or software not supplied by Dell. . Relocation or transportation. . Servicing not authorised by Dell. . Usage not in accordance with product instructions. . Improper voltage selection on systems power supply. . Unreasonable or excessive use. . Accidental damage. For future purchases, CompleteCare cover is available. . Malicious damage. . This derek bloke seems to be at the centre of a lot of folks problems here. Clearly he is selling duff computers and duff velcro. Does anyone have his ebay name so I don't buy anything from him??
