EDF - fixed price deal?

Yesterday I had a letter from EDF urging me to follow my recently expired 'Price Saver 2008' contract with the new 'Price Freeze 2009 tariff'. As you see, the rates are 33%-34% up on the last deal:

2008 deal:

- 1st 209 units @ 12.750p

- Next 8.820

2009 deal:

- 1st 225 units @ 17.100

- Next 11.73

But oil prices have been dropping and I'm guessing they will continue to do so, at least short term. So I assume electricity rates will drop too. So what's the informed consensus please? Does the deal look good, or would it be prudent to just wait and see, despite the "Hurry, offer may end soon" stuff?

I had that letter a few weeks ago (Sussex) and binned it. We changed from Scottish Power to EDF when we moved in December 2006. EDF asked how much we had been paying. I told them $67 a month but Scottish Power were saying that I should increase it to 76 a month. EDF said that they were much cheaper that SP and that 40 a month should be enough. We have a communal heating system in our building and we have not needed extra heating or electric fires in the months that heating is not on. Still paying 40 a month with the same electrical items in use apart from a smaller freezer and we have always been slightly in credit. Derek.
