Favourite Finance Magazine

I am thinking of subscribing to an investing/finance/business magazine as I am interested in a career in banking.

Which is your favourite magazine?

Investors Chronicle? Shares? Fortune? Money Marketing? Other?

Is the financial times better than these publications?

A lot depends on how much time you want to spend reading.

I would suggest the weekend papers, FT Weekend, Saturday telegraph and Sunday Times would keep you busy most of the week.

The BoE reports are also fascinating and free and very informative.

The weekly/monthly magazines tend to get a bit repetative.

The only one of those I know is the IC, and I don't rate it very highly. I think the FT would be better. If it's banking you're thinking of, then a more general publication like the FT I'd have thought better than one focussing on one particular sector.

I like the FT, but i'm having trouble following some of the stories. I thought a magazine might be a little more explanative.

None of those have any direct relevance to banking per se.

IC, Shares and Fortune are for private shareholders/investors.

Money Marketing is for Financial Advisers.

The FT is a different sort of publication, it just reports finance news but it is a far better starting point than any of those you mention.

I suggest a different tack.

'Financial World' magazine is the journal of what used to be called the Chartered Institute of Bankers, now known as the Institute of Financial Services school of finance, and is more related to banking than any of the others you mention. Look at

Without knowing what information that requires, perhaps the Economist.

Every Christmas I get the Economists "The World in 200x" which is a thought provoking overview and makes for pleasant Christmas reading. You can buy them used from Amazon
