fund supermarket with active management

Hi

I am looking for 1 or 2 fund supermarlkets to invest approx £90k.

I do not have enough expertise or time to activley move funds around myself.

hargreaves lansdown offer 3 funds where they activley manage the funds, moving money when they feel is the best time.

I am happy with medium (Medium+) risk, and would like to get some regular income.

has anyone any recommendations concerning HL or could you recommend any other funds supermarket?

Should I be looking at splitting accross 2 funds supermarkets or stick with one?

Thanks Colin

I thgink you may be misunderstanding what a 'fund supermarket' is. A 'Fund supermarket' is platform through which you can buy lots of different Unit Trust & OEICS, usually at a discount. You choose which ones you want and you can mic and match different funds from different fund managers within an ISA or have them as 'bare' UTs. Providers include Skandia & Fidelity amongst others.

If you want active management, then if it is a 'fund supermarket' as above then you need to employ a discretionary fund manager to do this for you.

If you want to have just one fund, which itself invests in other funds, then you need a 'fund of funds' such a Jupiter Merlin. You dont need a 'funds supermarket'.

I see no point in having more than 1 'Fund supermarket'

Hi John

Thanks for your guidance.

How does Hargreaves Lansdowne fit into your descriptions? They have HL Multi manager Income and growth Portfolio trust and HL ultimate managed trust.

I found them in Money magazine (or similar) under best Funds Supermarkets.

Thanks Colin

Thats a fund of funds. A rather average one. Look at Jupiter Merlin Income, far less volatility for similar return.

A rather average Unit Trust that is easily bettered. I would suggest you also look at Jupiter Income, Fidelity Special Situations amongst many others.

Neither of the funds you mention are 'fund supermarkets'.

That just goes to show how misunderstanding arise! Those funds are just 'funds', not 'fund supermarkets'.
