portfolio management with quicken

I was a user of Microsoft's on line portfolio manager. This portfolio manager periodically updated prices during the day so you could track changes. When they started to reduce support for it they recommended users transition to Quicken 2010 and indeed I was able to transport all my transactions by going from MSN Portfolio manager to Money to Quicken. Quicken offers some good features like importing data directly from brokerages etc.

The problem I have with Quicken is once you update stock prices once during the day you can no longer check portfolio changes during the rest of the day unless you go to each individual security, check to get the price history table and delete the price for the current day.

This is very impractical. We need to be able to update prices during the day to properly track investments.

I update prices during the day. Today, I was up quite a bit, then came crashing down. Each time I downloaded prices, I got a new set, delayed by about 20 minutes.

Perhaps I don't understand your problem.

I hit the download quotes button during the day and nothing changes. I don't know what the problem is. I recently talked to Quicken and I am not the only one with this problem. Using windows 7.

Quicken 10, Windows 7 64 bit, it works properly for me, I just tried it.

I don't know what the problem might be on your machine, sorry.

I believe the problem was that I had set Quicken up for an automatic scheduled update each day. In that mode it appears not to like to accept random manual updates. Once I deleted the scheduled updates I can now do inter-day quote updates successfully.

Seek and yea shall find.
