Is it possible for a UK resident to open a gold denominated bank account? I know that HSBC offers gold-denominated accounts in Hong Kong, but they don't seem to be available for UK residents. Thanks,

Johnson Matthey and Engelhard both operate precious metal accounts for industrial users. These deal in physical metals. I've never heard of a gold-denominated account for private individuals. That's not to say that it is impossible.
