AFAIK most of the big scams firstly xfer cash from the victim's account into another temp account and then xfer the money out of the country using the CHAPS system into another foreign temp account and then close that account down and walk off with the proceeds. The scammers names are all fake and you lose your cash. I'm sure there are variations to this theme. Opening/closing accounts in some eastern european countries is not so tight as here.

I was late with paying off my Halifax credit card bill due (I claimed) to the system being down. They waived the 25 late payment fee they were going to charge me ....

How long was the site down? and how late were you?

I thought the site was only down for one day at most?
