Help with opening a bank account

Sep 20, 2004 3 Replies

A friend needs to open a UK current account, with internet banking facilities. No overdraft facilities required.

He has ID, but problems with proof of address or proof of income. Not on voters roll and lives in UK intermittently. Has EU passport.

Any idea which bank is still operating a relaxed account opening procedure?

Thanks Davis

None as far as I'm aware.

Best he can expect I would think is a basic cash account type of account.ie cashpoint card with an account with d/d and standing orders, no overdraft no chequebooks and limited Internet functionality. Eric

None of them - it is regulatory compliance that forces the strict account opening rules, not bank choice!

Some banks would not even consider him for a UK bank account as he is clearly not UK resident. If he can prove an overseas address perhaps an offshore account would be more appropriate?
