does anyone know of any banks, uk, online or offshore that are easy to open for someone witout a great deal of ID.

How about getting a passport then? And a driving license (Provisional)?

Try at the Post Office. They should be able to give you details of Basic Bank Accounts which they recommend now so that people can get their benefits paid directly into their bank.

You'll probably need at least a birth certificate or something though.

I think you will find all UK banks have to open accounts subject to the guidelines issued by the FSA on 'New Customer Acceptance'.

Positive proof of both ID and Address Verification are necessary irrespective of amounts being deposited.

should assist. Why not just attain the necessary documentation? It is easier than trying to beat the system as none of the main banks will touch you if they are unable to identify you in such a way that they can fulfil their obligations to the FSA!
