How do lenders use previous address information?

I have been on the electoral roll in three different places over the past two years. At one of those a default is recorded from three years prior. Applications for credit often ask for the current address and a previous address. The address I had my default at would not legally need to be listed as I have lived in two other places since. Would lenders I would be applying to know about the default?

It depends if CIFAS could link you by other details such as NI number, if, indeed, defaults are monitored by CIFAS All addresses you give when applying for products or applying for you credit record are linked, so apply for you credit record for your current address and see what's listed/linked.
