Staples incompetence

My wife and myself are in a business partnership and we tried to open an account at Staples.

It was rejected because "my wife was not on the electoral roll"! I asked the guy in the store to explain to them that there must be a mistake but the people in Doncaster were adamant.

My wife voted in this years elections and she has credit cards and is on our mortgages. I phoned the local electoral roll officer and she confirmed that my wife was on the electoral roll.

I then phoned Staples at Doncaster and it was a weird experience. I don't think they understood the concept of "address". I explained that our present business and home address was one and the same. I felt it was weird that the application form asked for previous address - there was none of this "if you've lived at your current address for less than 3 years" stuff.

The Doncaster Staples person asked if she could call me back. I said she could. I also asked, given that I'd explained everything slowly and clearly, what the problem was at this stage. She said it looks like it was "something to do with the address" but couldn't be any clearer!

We are getting more 3rd World every day!

Possibly on the electoral role but not on the edited version made available to (among others) credit agencies because she chose not to have her name included on that edited register? (I am not defending Staples who ought these days to be well used to such circs.)

Credit Reference Agencies have the *full* electoral register, don't they?

Are you sure that T-Mobile haven't retaliated somehow? : )

The answer is that the person in the store gave the Doncaster people my wife's previous address instead of her current address.
